What both options cover
There is one tier and two ways to pay for it. Both include everything Dhito does. Semantic search across documents, images, audio, and video. On-device transcription of your recordings with OpenAI Whisper. Document chat against a local language model, with citations back to the source. AI file renaming that reads the contents rather than the metadata.
Because the models run on your own Apple Silicon rather than in a data centre, none of it is metered. There is no per-query cost, no monthly token allowance, and no ceiling on how many files you index — the constraint is your hardware, not your plan.
How it compares to cloud AI tools
Cloud assistants that read your documents typically start around $20 per month, because every question you ask costs the provider an inference call. That pricing floor is a consequence of the architecture, and so is the privacy trade-off that comes with it: your files have to be uploaded for the model to read them.
Running locally removes both. The cost of answering a question is your own electricity, and the question of what a vendor retains does not arise, because nothing was sent. What remains is the engineering to keep on-device models fast as they and macOS evolve — which is what you are actually paying for, whether you pay monthly or once.
Pricing questions
Is there a free trial?
Yes — 14 days, with every feature unlocked. No account and no payment details are required to start it, and the app is fully functional during the trial rather than limited to a sample of your files.
What does Dhito cost after the trial?
Two options, both covering every feature: $4.99 per month, down from $9.99, or $99 once for a one-time licence that never renews — currently discounted from $250 for a limited time. Both are handled in-app on macOS.
What does the one-time licence include?
Everything the subscription includes, on one Mac, with all future updates and no renewal date. It is a single payment of $99, down from $250 while the launch offer lasts, with no recurring billing of any kind — roughly twenty months of the monthly plan, after which it costs nothing further.
Should I subscribe or buy once?
Subscribe if you are not yet sure Dhito fits how you work, or if you would rather keep the commitment small — it is month to month and you can stop at any time. Buy once if you already know you want it long term, since the one-time licence pays for itself after about twenty months and removes the decision entirely. Starting on the subscription and switching later costs nothing extra: buying the one-time licence cancels your subscription automatically.
Why does a local app charge anything at all?
Dhito has no cloud API bills to pass on, which is exactly why it costs a fraction of what cloud AI assistants charge. What you are paying for is keeping on-device AI current: the models improve, macOS changes underneath them, and both need continuous work to stay fast and accurate on your hardware. The subscription funds that continuously; the one-time licence funds it up front.
Can I cancel whenever I want?
Yes, on the monthly plan. Billing is monthly with no long-term commitment, and if you cancel you keep access until the end of the current billing cycle. The one-time licence has nothing to cancel — there is no recurring charge on it.
Can I move my licence to a new Mac?
Yes. A licence is tied to one Mac at a time, and moving it is done in the app: enter the email you bought with and confirm the code we send you. This applies to both the subscription and the one-time licence.
What hardware do I need?
An Apple Silicon Mac (M1, M2, M3, or M4) running macOS 13.0 Ventura or later, with 8GB of unified memory minimum and 16GB recommended. Intel Macs are not supported — Dhito ships as an arm64 binary built for the Apple Neural Engine and cannot run under Rosetta.
Are there usage limits on searches, transcription, or chat?
No. Everything runs on your own machine, so there is no per-query metering, no token allowance, and no cap on how many files you index. The only limit is your hardware.
Does Dhito work offline?
Yes, entirely. Indexing, semantic search, transcription, and document chat all run locally, so none of them need a network connection and none of your files or queries leave the Mac.
